Agricultural Technology is multidisciplinary in nature hence its management involves collaboration, partnerships and networking among scientists from various disciplines. The rapid advancements in ICT can play a very significant role in improving the agricultural production & management of its products. Truly the agriculturist has to be an efficient information technology worker who has to either collate information at his level or get it through a centralized agency.

TC5 is promoting this group which could support an increase of agricultural production and management and help humanity to ensure a sustainable fight against hunger.

A brief description about the aims and objectives of AIPA
The IFIP Special Interest Group (SIG) on AIPA encourages the development towards science and technology of AIPA, through the pursuit of the following aims:
Introduction
Agricultural production and its management efficiently, require advanced information pertaining to weather, pest disease, soil properties, croppingpattern. IT can play key roles in both in the farm management and research for developing useful alternatives as well as for building conceptual and physical models. There are a large number of variables which determine what to sow, when to sow, when to irrigate, how much to irrigate, when and how to apply fertilizer...
Topic
Computer and Agriculture Scientific and technological support for the infrastructure construction in agriculture and rural informatization; Universal information service technology and service systemsdevelopment for rural areas;
Scope
The SIG (later to be turned into a WG) will serve as platform to create expertise and a pool of scientists in various areas of agricultural and related sciences from institutions all over the world. This information will be provided online for use by various user communities.
